He was known to be an idol worshiper in the Ur of the Chaldeans. In his wandering after God called him, he still had flaws in his life, bothering on lying, polygamy etc. Yet God did not unchoose him. Abraham’s life was not near a picture of perfection, yet God chose him, why? The only remarkable thing we see in Abraham’s life is his obedience and BELIEVE in God. This was what made him righteous – his believe, not his works. He had scores of unrighteous works, but he believed in God and was ready to obey God blindly. At that time, there were even persons and nations which knew God better than Abraham.
